As the general election gets underway in earnest, the Republican National Committee and Mitt Romney have adopted a mocking tone for their campaign messaging.
On Thursday, the RNC started selling bumper stickers that read "Hype and Blame 2012," a play off of Obama's iconic 2008 campaign slogan, "Hope and Change." The stickers, modeled after the Obama campaign's color scheme and fonts, also feature a crossed-out Obama campaign logo.

CNN reports that RNC press secretary Kirsten Kukowski explained the new messaging, saying, "Lay blame, make excuses, run on gimmicks and engage in divisive politics. Four years later we know the candidate of Hope and Change is now Hype and Blame." The slogan will be featured on more than just bumper stickers; and starting Thursday it will become a featured part of the Republican's message against Obama.
In another jab at Obama's re-election campaign, Romney weighed in on Obama's recently unveiled slogan, "Forward," on Wednesday at a fundraising event in Pentagon City, Va. "Foward?" Romney asked the crowd gathered there. "What, over a cliff?" Romney continued, criticizing Obama for his campaign's message, which he described as "seizing upon envy and jealousy to attack fellow Americans and try to divide us."
